In 2018, Twitter is an inescapable, unwieldy platform for global communication.
In 2008, it was more of a coffee shop, and I spent a lot of time there, talking about everything and nothing. My first tweet was about banana bread. My 50,000th was about my toe experiencing a strange tingling sensation. Mensa has yet to reach out.
On February 20, 2008, a tweet popped up that I pretty much ignored at the time, as it came from an account I didn't follow or recognize. Then, for no reason I can think of, I decided not to ignore it anymore, and clicked through to learn about who sent it.
Then we clicked.
We met in person in October '08, I moved to Boston in April '10, we became engaged in February '11, and married in October '11.
Being in the same city is way better than long distance, and being married is way better than dating, so each one of those milestones was a huge step in the right direction.
But February 20 remains special: it brought the first tweet Gradon sent me, and our engagement three years later.
Today, we've been in the same orbit for a decade.
I'm thankful I started a blog to yammer about my life. I'm thankful I joined Twitter to do the same.
And I'm most thankful for the one man on earth who saw *me* through all of that yammering.
Because he's made me the happiest woman on earth.
